Description
Dalbeattie Town Hall is a granite building from the later 19th century, located at the corner of High Street and Water Street. It features a two-storey design with a four-stage tower. The exterior is made of bull-faced granite walling with polished dressings, particularly noticeable on the upper stage of the tower.
The High Street elevation has six bays with irregularly spaced openings on the ground floor and regular openings on the first floor. The ground floor windows are fitted with plate glass, while the first-floor windows are sash and case style, with two-pane upper and four-pane lower glazing. There is a polished band course above the ground floor and a corbel course at the eaves. The building is topped with slate roofs.
The tower includes bipartite, round-arched louvered openings, which are topped by a clock face. It features a deep eaves cornice and a balustraded parapet with ball finials at the corners. Additionally, there is a large harled extension that is two storeys tall and includes a basement at the rear.
