Description

The Galloway Arms Hotel is an early 19th century, three-storey, three-bay double-pile inn located at 52-58 Victoria Street in Newton Stewart. The building features painted rubble with raised painted margins and has an altered ground floor. The central doorway is flanked by a tripartite window on the left and a single light window on the right. The remaining windows are single light with modern four-pane glazing.

The hotel has end skews and skewputts, with a graded slate roof and tile covering at the rear. It is topped with tall corniced granite end stacks that have octagonal cans.

On the gable wall, there is a reset roll-moulded doorway from the late 17th century, which features an open-topped segmental pediment and a tripartite glazed door. The interior of the building has been significantly altered.
