Description
The dovecot at the Queensberry Arms Hotel, located at 47-49 High Street in Annan, dates from the 17th or 18th century. This freestanding square structure features a doorway that has been heightened with a reset marriage lintel from 1690. The upper part of the dovecot may have been rebuilt. It is constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings and has a monopitch roof covered in corrugated asbestos. The north wall has a door with a chamfered edge, also featuring the 1690 lintel, and above it is a square hatch. The dovecot includes flight-holes on two levels and stone nesting boxes located only at the upper level.
