Description
Creel Bridge, located on the Drumlanrig Estate, dates from the earlier to mid-19th century. This narrow lenticular footbridge is elevated high above the River Nith, supported by a pair of slender cast-iron columns on either bank. The columns are equipped with iron stays that have been renewed. The bridge features a timber walkway that is supported by braces and connects narrow plate girders. The approach to the walkway turns south on the west bank, and there is a gate at the east approach. Iron handrails with cross-braces are slightly splayed from their mountings.
