Description

Ryedale House, located on Ryedale Road in Dumfries, is a late 18th century building that stands two storeys high over a raised basement. It features a taller two-storey wing that was added in the early 19th century, along with some later alterations. The exterior is constructed of white painted squared rubble, accented with contrasting margins around the windows and at the angles, as well as a band course at the eaves.

The original building has three bays, with the entrance positioned at the top of steps leading up to an early 19th century porch that is pilastered and includes a geometric fanlight above the outer door. There is one window on either side of the door on both floors. The garden front has a modern porch, flanked by two windows and featuring three dormer heads. Additionally, there is a later wing extension located in the re-entrant angle. The roof is covered with slate.
