Description
Forsyth House, located on High Street in Cromarty, is a late 18th century building featuring two storeys and an attic above a raised basement. The structure has three bays with a central door at the top of a flight of steps leading down to the basement area. It is constructed of coursed, squared cherry cocked rubble with ashlar dressings that have raised margins, while the rear is harled. The windows have 12-pane glazing, and there are three small piended dormers. The building has an eaves course, corniced end stacks, and a slate roof. A later 19th century oriel window is present on the north gable. At the rear, there is a full-height central wing and an additional wing added in the later 19th century. Inside, there is an 18th century moulded stone chimneypiece located in the basement. The property is also marked by tall rusticated gate piers with cornices and ball finials, a low coped wall, and cast-iron gates.
