Description
Arundel House is an early 19th-century, two-storey villa located on Church Street in Dumfries. The original main block features three bays and is constructed from roughly-coursed aquared rubble with ashlar margins. It has a first-floor cill band and an eaves/lintel band, with a central tripartite window that includes blind side lights above a mid-19th-century corniced square stugged ashlar porch with margined glazing. The garden elevation has been altered to include two tall, asymmetrical, projecting bays. The building has a piended roof above the eaves cornice, with a central pair of chimney stacks. There is a recessed link to a broader wing, which has a bipartite window on the first floor and a modern garage door at ground level. A dwarf garden wall with rusticated piers marks the gate and the ends of the property.
