Description
Palmerston House is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay villa located at 42 Terregles Street in Dumfries. The inner bay is slightly advanced but remains below the eaves. The central entrance features a panelled door, a traceried fanlight, and lancet sidelights, all set back beneath a wide, depressed arch. The exterior is constructed of droved red ashlar with polished dressings and projecting cills. It includes plate glass sash windows, an eaves and lintel course, a cornice, straight skews, and end stacks, topped with a slate roof. The house is set behind a low garden wall, which is complemented by squat, rusticated square piers topped with plain capping blocks. Modern iron gates and railings complete the entrance.
