Description
48-48A High Street in Kirkcudbright is a mid to late 18th century terraced house. It has two storeys and an attic above a basement, featuring six bays. The building is constructed of rubble with painted margins and rusticated quoins. A central recessed door, located at the top of steps, is framed by a mid to late 19th century granite doorpiece that includes pilasters, a block pediment, and inset colonettes in the architrave. There is a pend on the left side with a blind window above it. The house has four-pane sash windows, with two central first-floor windows that are closely spaced, and three wallhead dormers. The ends have stacks with simply moulded skewputts, and the roof is covered with slate. Additionally, there is a brick extension at the rear.
