45-47 George Street, Stranraer

45-47 George Street in Stranraer is a later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay building designed in a classical style. It has a rectangular plan and features a shop at the ground floor, which is finished in painted render. The shopfront cornice is adorned with decorative consoles, while the first-floor windows are highlighted by a cill course. Thin coupled pilasters separate the bays on the first floor, and banded rustication is present between these pilasters. The building is topped with a dentilled cornice and a corniced parapet, and there are sunken panels on the dies with stalk-topped ball finials on pedestals positioned above them.

On the north elevation, there is a central entrance leading to a modern shopfront at the ground floor, with an additional entrance to the outer left. The first floor features regular fenestration with textured square-paned glazing in three sets of six-block windows, and the central bay has louvres in the upper section. The roof was not visible during the inspection in 1997, and the interior was also not seen at that time.
