Description

Briarbrae is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay villa with a near rectangular plan, designed in a plain classical style. The exterior is harled and painted on the sides, featuring a base course, timber bracketed eaves, a cornice, quoin strips, and painted margins around the openings.

On the northeast elevation, there are steps leading to a central doorpiece with columns and pilasters, topped with a cornice. The door is made of timber, and there is a single window aligned above it. To the outer right, there are bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors, while to the outer left, tripartite windows are present on both levels.

The northwest elevation is two bays wide, with single windows at the center of both the ground and first floors, and an additional single window to the left at the ground floor.

The villa features plate glass timber sash and case windows and has a grey slate piended roof with coped wallhead stacks topped with polygonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1997.

The property includes boundary walls, gatepiers, a gate, and a garage. The boundary wall is made of painted brick with coping, and there are octagonal gatepiers at the central pedestrian entrance. A cast-iron gate is present, along with square-plan coped gatepiers with ball finials at the vehicular entrances on the outer right and left. The garage is constructed of castellated painted brick.
