Weighbridge, Harbour Office, Market Street, Stranraer

The Weighbridge and Harbour Office on Market Street in Stranraer is a single-storey building from the 1930s, designed in a square plan with a flat roof. It features an Art Deco clock tower on the south side and a bay window on the west. The exterior is made of sandstone ashlar, with a deep base course and projecting eaves course.

The clock tower, which slightly projects from the north elevation, has raised corner margins, a stepped upper section, long slit windows, and an Art Deco clock face on each side. There is a later timber boarded door at the base of the tower, set within a broad architrave, and a tablet above that depicts a three-masted ship along with the partly corroded motto ?-ISSIMA STATIO in a raised architrave frame. Small windows flank the tower, while large windows are present on the other elevations, including the bay window on the west and a recessed bowed window on the north.

The windows feature small-pane glazing in metal-framed casements, and the building has a flat roof. Additionally, there is a cast-iron Avery weighing machine located to the west of the harbour office.
