Description

The Council Offices at 10 Market Street in Stranraer is an early 19th century building. It is a two-storey structure with an attic and a symmetrical three-bay rectangular plan. The exterior is made of squared and snecked whinstone, featuring harled dormers, contrasting sandstone dressings, and quoins, with painted surrounds around the openings.

On the north elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a central doorway with a timber door and a letterbox fanlight above it. The first floor has a single window, and each of the flanking bays has a window on both floors, although the ground floor window in the left bay is not aligned with the upper floor window. The attic features canted dormers on the outer left and right sides.

The windows have 12-pane timber sash and case glazing, although the bottom sashes of the ground floor windows and the dormers have been replaced with aluminium. The building has a grey slate roof, stone skews, coped apex stacks, and circular chimney cans.

The interior was not seen in 1997.
