Description
Park Cottage, part of Galloway House, dates from 1848 and is a 2-storey gabled cottage with asymmetrical elevations. It is constructed of bull-faced ashlar with rusticated sandstone quoins, and all windows feature architraves and hood moulds.
The entrance elevation faces west and has a double gable front, with a bay on the right that is slightly advanced. To the left, there is a hood-moulded door next to a tripartite window, while the first floor has bipartite windows.
The south elevation consists of three bays, with two gabled bays on the left. The central bay is advanced and features a projecting single-storey 6-light window. There is a tripartite window to the left, and the remaining windows are bipartites. All windows have mullions, and most have been reglazed with modern plate glass that includes top hopper openings. On the east side, there is a panel displaying the Galloway family crest and the date 1848. The cottage has steeply pitched slate roofs with overhanging timber eaves and features clustered tall moulded octagonal stacks, some with octagonal cans. To the north, there is a small service court enclosed by high coped walls, with lean-to buildings facing inward.
