Description

The Northern Block of the Royal Bank of Scotland, located at 153 High Street in Dumfries, was built around 1860 and features an Italianate architectural style. This three-storey building has four bays and is characterized by pilasters. The ground floor has been modernized and continues into a modern extension on the left side. The exterior is constructed of red ashlar stone. The first-floor windows are adorned with consoled hoods, while the second-floor windows have recessed pilastered jambs, though they feature modern glazing. There are horizontal strings at each cill level, a bracketted main cornice, and end stacks. The roof is covered with slate.
