Description

Mid 18th century 3-storey block with symmetrical 6-bay

elevation to street with shops and with architraved windows,

pend off-centre to much-altered mid 18th century Hole I'

The Wa' inn at rear.

ELEVATION TO STREET: painted ashlar, tall (?enlarged) windows,

all plate glass sashes, sculptured lions on 1st floor cills

flanking pend. Cornice; skews, that to N with kneelers; end

stacks; steep-pitched slate roof. Block to S adjoining is

recessed from street line; single windows in S gable.

HOLE I' THE WA': earliest work 2 storeys, whitewashed rubble

and ashlar margins, slate roof; 2 1st floor windows with deeply chamfered reveals face pend; modern additions, large

addition to E.
