Description

The stables at Lincluden House, designed by architect Walter Newall around 1824, are a large Neo-Tudor structure. This two-storey building is arranged in a U-shape and features a castellated three-storey tower that is positioned off-centre on the main southeast elevation. The southeast elevation is constructed of red ashlar, while the other sides are built from rubble. Most of the openings are narrow lights with hood moulds. The tower includes smaller clasping towers, a Tudor-arched pend, and a blind mullioned and transomed window above, which has cusped-headed lights. A clock is situated at the upper level, and there is a dovecot facing the courtyard. The flanking bays are connected by a string course at each cill level, and the building is topped with slate roofs. The ranges at the rear also feature well-proportioned openings. To the west, there is a walled garden.
