Description
Old Stakeford is an asymmetrical Tudor villa built around 1840. It is a single-storey building with attics and a basement, featuring a basically rectangular plan. The villa has tall, shallow advanced outer bays with spike finials, gabled above the main eaves level, with the left bay being larger. The exterior is made of painted rubble with contrasting ashlar margins. Railed steps lead to the basement area, which includes a four-centred-arched doorway with a round-headed light alongside. Both projecting bays have hood-moulded bipartite windows at ground level; the left bay has a square-headed window, possibly with the mullion removed, while the right bay has a narrow semi-circular-headed window. The villa also features shaped skews, end and axial stacks, and a slate roof.
