Description

This is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, two-bay house located on a corner site at 2 Bank Street in Wigtown, featuring a tall single-storey wing facing Low Vennel. The building is constructed from rendered rubble with painted ashlar margins, and it has band, base, and eaves courses along Bank Street. On the ground floor to the left, there is a later canted window, with a window above it and another in the flanking bay to the right. The two-storey elevation facing Low Vennel is mostly blank, except for a tall stair window on the left. The entrance door is situated in the single-storey wing on the outer left, flanked by a window, with an additional window further to the left. The windows are fitted with plate glass glazing in sash and case style, while the stair window has horizontal panes. The roof is covered with grey slates, pitched at the corner, and there is a tall off-set wallhead stack on the Low Vennel side. The building also features cast-iron rainwater goods.
