Description
The stable, along with a lodge and outbuildings, was designed by W West Neve around 1901. The buildings are arranged in a parallel formation, creating a courtyard. The design is in the Arts and Crafts style. They are constructed of rubble stone with red ashlar dressings. The lodge features a projection on its east gable, containing a door and a long mullioned window. An attic light is set within a timber-framed gable head, beneath a swept roof. A bracketed canopy breaks the eaves above a doorway that leads to the courtyard; the south elevation has two bipartites (divided windows) with small, leaded panes. Lower and narrower outbuildings extend to the west, with openings facing into the courtyard. Two chimney stacks are present. The roofs are slate, though they might have originally been red tiles. Projected eaves are a feature. The former stables and cartshed each have a gambrel roof (a type of roof with two slopes on each side), covered in red tiles and featuring large rectangular openings that give onto the courtyard. The stables incorporate additional doors and windows. The property is marked by wooden gatepiers and decorative wooden gates.
