Description
Sawmill Cottage is an earlier or mid-19th century single-storey, square-plan cottage. The building has three-bay sides and is constructed of whin rubble, partly cherry-caulked and unpainted, with ashlar margins, some of which have vermiculated detail. A door is positioned off-centre on the east elevation. The north elevation features a central pointed window, originally a door, flanked by square-headed windows, all with geometric patterned glazing. A central stack rises from the apex, and there are two wall head stacks over the south wall. The cottage has projecting eaves and a piended roof covered in slate. The building is shown on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1856.
