Description
West Lodge at Murraythwaite House dates from around 1840 and is a symmetrical, single-storey building with three bays and a piend roof. It is constructed from stugged and squared rubble with ashlar dressings.
On the southwest elevation, there are corniced openings with chamfered reveals, and a central doorway featuring a modern door and a rectangular fanlight. The lodge has sash windows with a 4-pane glazing pattern and a corniced axial stack with two square flues. The slate roof has projecting eaves.
The lodge is flanked by four piers, with the outer piers being thinner and topped with flat pyramidal caps. There are low quadrants with an iron fence surrounding the property.
