Description

Howes Cottage is an earlier to mid-19th century single-storey building designed in an L-plan. It features a south-facing cottage with a gabled central porch and outbuildings located to the rear, which include a smithy or workshop that faces west. The structure is built from stugged and squared red rubble, accented with ashlar dressings. It has a piended slate roof and three prominent axial stacks, each with a pair of diamond flues. The cottage is fitted with sash windows that have a 12-pane glazing pattern, and there is a door situated in the re-entrant angle.
