Description

October Cottage is an earlier 19th century single-storey L-plan cottage, formed from two adjoined three-bay cottages. The structure is built of rubble with ashlar dressings and has a harled east gable.

The southwest wing features three irregularly grouped bays, with a central doorway that has a simple timber gabled porch, flanked by windows in the adjacent bays. The east wing is slightly recessed, with bays arranged similarly; it includes a boarded door and a small window to the left of the door that was inserted later. There is a harled flat-roofed addition at the northern end.

The cottage has sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roofs are pantiled, with ashlar skews and gable end stacks that have been repaired in brick.

A rubble coped retaining wall curves to the south, shielding the cottage from the road at the junction to the east.
