Description

The Bridge of Annan, designed by engineer Robert Stevenson in 1826, is a large road bridge featuring three segmental arches, each with a span of approximately 21 meters. It carries the A75 over the River Annan. The bridge is constructed of red ashlar and includes rounded semi-domed cutwaters on either side, channelled voussoirs, and outer pilaster strips that lead to battered abutments. The roadway is flat, and there is a string course located below the parapets.
