Description
20 Port Street is an earlier 19th-century building that incorporates the rear wall of a previous structure. It consists of a two-storey row of four two-bay houses, featuring paired entrance bays. Both Nos 18 and 20 retain their original panelled doors and decorative fanlights. The house to the south, No 26, has been altered and has three bays. The building is constructed of stugged red ashlar with polished dressings, and it features band courses, an eaves/lintel band, a cornice, end stacks, and a slate roof. The ground floor openings of the southern house have been altered, likely in the early 20th century, and it possibly started as two houses, now featuring bipartite windows with modern glazing. Additionally, there is an ashlar-faced low wing adjoining the southern house, which has a large opening with a sliding door and a boarded loft opening.
