Description

Howes Scaur is a single-storey, three-bay farmhouse built in the earlier to mid-19th century, forming the southern range of a courtyard steading. The building features whitewashed rubble with ashlar dressings and contrasting margins. It has sash windows and prominent stacks with diamond flues. A gabled, full-height central porch is located at the re-entrant angle of the house, which has square-headed openings. The steading remains largely unaltered and is topped with slate roofs.
