Description
The Railway Viaducts in Annan were opened in 1848 and consist of a railway viaduct featuring seven segmental arches (one large arch, five medium arches, and one smaller arch) that carry double track over the River Annan. There are also smaller outer arches that span over roadways. The structure is made entirely of red ashlar stone, which is mostly channelled and bull-faced. The rusticated voussoirs extend into channelled soffits, and there is a wide bull-nosed string course located below the parapets. Additionally, the viaduct has outer pilaster strips and cutwaters on either side.
