Description
The Masonic Arms, located at 19 Castle Street in Kirkcudbright, dates back to 1790, as indicated by a date panel featuring the crest of St Cuthbert's Lodge. This two-storey inn, which also serves as a masonic lodge, has four bays and is constructed from painted, pinned rubble with contrasting margins. The entrance is situated in the centre-right bay, flanked by two windows, with a pend on the outer left side. On the first floor, there are four windows, all featuring 12-pane sash designs. The building is topped with a slate roof and has brick stacks. An egg and dart moulded frame surrounds the small panel above the entrance, which includes a clock.
