Sheepfold, Hayknowes Farm

The Sheepfold at Hayknowes Farm is an earlier 19th-century building that once served as a bacon processing plant. It features a long rectangular gabled design, standing two storeys high with seven bays along its long elevations. The structure is built from rubble with ashlar dressings and is entirely whitewashed. All openings are flat-headed, with square windows on the first floor. Most windows are barred and have original sliding timber shutters fitted to the inner walls. A lean-to has been added to the west gable.

The south elevation faces the roadside and includes a central cartway with boarded doors, another cartway on the left with a sliding door, and a first-floor door above with a hoist over it. The north elevation has two blocked ground floor slits, while the rest of the elevation features windows throughout. The roof is covered with gabled slates, and there are concrete footings from an adjoining structure to the east.

Inside, the building has tiers of wall recesses designed to accommodate timber meat-hanging frames, with some framing still visible at the east end. The ground floor shutters slide horizontally, while the first-floor shutters slide upwards to open.
