Description
Quays at Port Street in Annan were mainly constructed in the first half of the 19th century, but they are not all from the same period. The long quayside known as Town Quay, located beside warehouses at the lower end of Port Street, began construction around 1810 and was originally 250 feet in length before being extended in 1904. There is also a separate small quay to the south, known as Niven's Quay, which was built in the mid-19th century for the Newbie estate. All of these structures are made of large rubble blocks.
