Crown Hotel, 10, 12 Victoria Street, Kirkpatrick Durham

The Crown Hotel, located at 10 and 12 Victoria Street, Kirkpatrick Durham, dates to 1831, as indicated by the lintel of the first-floor window. It is a two-storey, three-bay building constructed of painted rubble with polished raised margins to the corners and window openings. The central main doorway is sheltered by a modern hood porch, with a single-light window to the right. To the left is a tripartite shopfront with windows flanking a door, all beneath a shared cornice. All the windows are single-light, featuring four-pane or plate glass sashes. An eaves band runs along the building, and it is punctuated by tall, corniced end stacks and flat skews, topped by slate roofs. The building is designated as a group value with 1 Victoria Street.
