13 Young Street, Edinburgh

13 Young Street in Edinburgh is a classical former house built by John Young soon after 1779. The building is two stories high with a half-sunk basement and an attic, featuring three bays. It is constructed from droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings, and includes a base course, eaves cornice, and blocking course. The central bay has an architraved doorpiece with a mutule cornice, which leads to a deeply set door and a three-pane fanlight. The left bay contains tripartite windows, including one in the basement, and there is a later full-width slate-hung corniced dormer.

At the rear, there is a three-story, two-bay elevation that is adjoined by a two-story block of a neighboring church. The building features timber sash and case 12-pane windows, ashlar coped skews, stone stacks that are rendered to the east, and grey slates on the roof. The interior was not seen in 1995.
