15 Young Street, Edinburgh

15 Young Street in Edinburgh is a classical former house built by John Young shortly after 1779. The building features two storeys, a half-sunk basement, and an attic, with a three-bay façade made of droved cream sandstone ashlar, accented with polished dressings. It has a base course, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The central bay includes an architraved doorpiece topped with a mutule cornice, leading to a deeply set door and a three-pane fanlight. The right bay has tripartite windows, including one in the basement, while the left features a tripartite dormer.

At the rear, there is a three-storey, two-bay rendered elevation that connects to a much-altered single-storey mews building, which has dry-dashed walls and a top-lit studio attic. This mews includes a double garage and a former door to a hayloft, which has been converted into a window with a balcony.

The windows throughout the property are timber sash and case with 12 panes. The building has ashlar coped skews and stone stacks, with the western side rendered.

The interior was not seen in 1995.
