18 Young Street, Edinburgh

18 Young Street in Edinburgh is a classical former house built by John Young shortly after 1779. The building is two stories high with a half-sunk basement and an attic, featuring three bays. It is constructed from droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings and has an eaves cornice. The central bay includes an architraved corniced doorpiece that leads to a deeply set door and fanlight, complete with a wrought-iron lamp bracket, and there is a blind window above it. The left bay features tripartite windows.

At the rear, there is a two-story mews block that contains a garage and a flat. This block has timber sash and case four-pane windows, ashlar coped skews, and rendered stacks on the west side, while the east side has stone stacks. The roof is covered with grey slates. The interior was not seen in 1995.
