Description
19 Young Street in Edinburgh is a former classical house built by John Young shortly after 1779. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features four bays. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished dressings and has an eaves cornice. The central right bay includes an architraved corniced doorpiece that leads to a deeply set door and fanlight.
The house has three pedimented timber dormers that are slate-hung. The rear elevation is irregular, consisting of three storeys and three bays, constructed from rubble, and includes an adjoining two-storey mews block that has been converted into garages.
The windows are timber sash and case with 12 panes. The building also features ashlar coped skews, rendered stacks, and grey slates. The interior was not seen in 1995.
