Description

David C Proudfoot, Engineer, 1902-3. Single span segmental-arched bridge with extended built up approach to S incorporating subsidiary arched span over former mill lade. Squared, snecked and stugged sandstone with ashlar voussoirs and archivolt; billeted string course above voussoirs, coped ashlar parapet. Open balustrade to bridge with pedimented central dies; swagged frieze, tablet bearing bronze plaque inscribed, with coats of arms. Terminal piers with rusticated bases and sarcophagus dies. Approaches with solid stepped parapets and dies.
