Description
Mauldslie Bridge, located over the River Clyde in Dalserf, was likely designed by David Bryce in 1861. This impressive bridge features three spans with cream sandstone and segmental arches, along with two round-arched overflow arches and curved wing walls on the east side. The bridge is complemented by the adjoining West Lodge and gateway, which are listed separately.
The structure boasts a solid polished ashlar parapet that sits above a droved string course, topped with a ridged ashlar cope. There is an arcaded parapet above the overflow arches. The bridge is supported by stugged ashlar pilaster piers positioned above semicircular cutwaters, with a thick string course running between them. The design includes bull-faced spandrels, stugged voussoirs featuring panelled keystones, and stugged soffits. The overflow arches have bull-faced soffits, and the abutments are also bull-faced.
