Description

Mid 19th century with later alterations and additions. 2-storey, 3-bay symmetrical rectangular-plan former Inn with single storey 3-bay projection to right (W). Harled with painted ashlar dressings. Chamfered reveals to openings; 1st floor windows hugging eaves; block cills.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: stop chamfered doorpiece at ground in bay to centre; 2-leaf boarded door with small-pane letterbox fanlight; window at lst floor above. Bipartite window at ground with single window at 1st floor in each bay flanking. Single storey projection set back to outer right: boarded door with single window flanking in bays to left; window in bay to right; 2-leaf boarded garage doors to gabled right return (W end).

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; slate to addition; ashlar coped stack to E gablehead; ashlar skews; cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.

GATEPIERS AND RAILINGS: square-plan cream sandstone piers with truncated pyramidal caps (pier to left repaired) sited to right (W) of house; sandstone rubble wall with curved ashlar cope to right; replacement wrought-iron railings to left extending in front of house.
