Description

Early 19th century; altered later 19th century. 2-storey and basement, 3-bay rectangular-plan classical villa. Coursed, polished sandstone ashlar to ground; lighter sandstone to 1st floor. Raised terrace at front elevation, with central steps, and 4 advanced pillars to ground, with key-patterned incised panels. String course (forming cornice at rear) between ground and 1st floors; deep eaves with dentilled cornice. Margins to windows; consoled cornices to ground floor of front elevation.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: door offset to left of centre at ground, with tall window flanking at right; tall window to flanking bays; lattice wrought iron work bordering each bay at ground; bipartite window to each bay at 1st floor.

SW ELEVATION: corniced canted bay to right at ground of SW elevation, with deepset windows between pilastered jambs; blocked window above. Central glazed porch and entrance door at ground; door at basement beneath; large rectangular window with stone astragals above. Single window in left bay at 1st floor.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: central 2-bay projection; ground floor forms covered passage to door; regular fenestration pattern: bipartite lights at 1st floor; single lights at 2nd floor; all windows have groved frames. Flanking recessed ends; 2 single windows at ground floor; single bipartite above.

SE ELEVATION: 3-storey, 2-bay elevation with 2-storey corniced, canted bay at left, with deepset windows to pilastered jambs; bipartite window (left light blocked) above; single window to basement at centre; pair of closely spaced windows to 2 floors above; altered window to right at basement; bipartite windows to both floors above.

Predominantly timber sash and case glazing; 4-pane casement windows to canted bay at SE. Grey slate piended roof; pair of corniced ridge stacks with modern terracotta cans; cast-iron rainwater goods.
