Glion, 42 Murrayfield Road, Edinburgh

Glion, located at 42 Murrayfield Road in Edinburgh, is a former club house built in 1897 by Cooper and Taylor, with a conversion by Basil Spence around 1935. This building is designed in an Old English style and is two stories tall with nine bays. The exterior features a painted finish with brick dressings and half-timbered elements, along with a lead balcony.

On the west (principal) elevation, there are paired canted bays to the left, each with overhanging gables and a timber frame. The bays have windows on both the ground and first floors, with brick detailing between the floors. A panelled door is situated between the bays, leading to a cantilevered balcony above, which has a three-light window above it. The wall to the left of the bays slopes down, and there is irregular fenestration on both the left and right sides of the bays. To the right of the elevation, there is a projecting bay with three-light windows on both the ground and first floors.

The north elevation features a centrally located door and irregular fenestration, with a recessed ground floor on the right side. The east and south elevations were not visible in 2001.

The building has leaded casement windows of various sizes, rosemary tiled roofs, and tall red brick chimney stacks.
