62 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh

62 Candlemaker Row is an early 19th century tenement building, likely incorporating some earlier materials. It is a four-storey, four-bay structure with shops on the ground floor. The exterior is made of coursed rubble with droved ashlar dressings, while the shops feature painted ashlar. The sides and rear are constructed from random rubble. Notable architectural features include a cornice at the ground floor, projecting cills on the windows, a cill course at the second floor, and eaves with blocking courses. The building has a regular arrangement of windows, with a blind bay to the right of the centre. The ground floor bays, from left to right, consist of a shop window and door, a door to the flats, another shop window, a door, and two windows. There is an original street name tablet with incised script.

While the original openings remain, the shops have modern glazing and doors. The upper floors and rear feature 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a corniced cement-rendered ridge stack that is flush with the rear wall, complete with circular cans, as well as a stone skew.
