Description

18A Dublin Street is a terraced tenement building located in Edinburgh, designed by Robert Reid and William Sibbald in the early 19th century. It is three storeys high with a basement and features three bays. The exterior is constructed of broached ashlar sandstone, with V-jointed rustication on the principal floor. There are band courses between the basement and the principal floor, as well as between the principal floor and the first floor. A cill course is present at the first floor, and the second floor windows have projecting cills. The entrance is accessed by ashlar steps and platts that extend over the basement.

The principal elevation features a round-arched doorpiece that includes a six-panel timber door topped with a semicircular fanlight made of plate glass, located in the right bay at the principal floor. The remaining bays on this floor contain windows, while the floor above has regular fenestration, and there are windows in the basement as well.

The northeast elevation is part of an adjoining terrace, which is listed separately (1 and 1A Abercromby Place), and the southeast elevation is also part of an adjoining terrace (12-16A Dublin Street), both of which are noted in separate listings.

The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a grey slate M-roof, which includes a box dormer on the left and a roof light on the right. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.

The interiors were not seen during the last inspection in 1997. The property is adorned with ashlar copes that are topped with cast-iron railings featuring spear-headed balusters and urn finials.
