Description
11 Dublin Street is a terraced tenement building in Edinburgh, designed by Robert Reid and William Sibbald in the early 19th century. It is three storeys tall, with an attic and basement, and features a two-bay layout. The exterior is constructed of broached ashlar sandstone, with V-jointed rustication at the principal floor. There is a band course between the basement and principal floor, as well as between the principal and first floors. Cill courses are present at the first and second floors, and a dentilled cornice with a blocking course is located at the second floor. The entrance includes ashlar steps and an oversailing entrance platt above the basement.
On the west (principal) elevation, there is a round-arched doorpiece to the left, supported by Ionic columns and an entablature with foliated necking and a fluted frieze. The entrance features a four-panel timber door and a plate glass semicircular fanlight. To the right, there are tripartite windows on all floors, while the left side has windows on the first and second floors.
The north elevation adjoins another terrace, which is listed separately (13 and 15 Dublin Street), as does the south elevation (2-4A York Place).
The building predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a grey slate M-roof with a slate-hung rectangular dormer. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1997. The property is also adorned with ashlar copes topped by cast-iron railings and urn finials.
