Garden House, Newliston House

Garden House, located at Newliston House, is an earlier 19th century, two-storey cottage that features a first floor breaking the eaves. The building has an irregular plan and includes a modern addition designed by J Dunbar Naismith. It is harled, with droved ashlar dressings and deeply chamfered reveals, along with a base course. The windows are timber sliding casements, and the roof is covered with graded slates. The eaves have brackets supporting the overhanging structure, and there are simple barge boards.

On the south elevation, there is a door to the left, which was formed from a former window that used to be on the right return of the porch. A large modern addition obscures the bays to the right and extends southward.

The west elevation features a two-bay design with an advanced gable bay to the right. This bay originally had an entrance at ground level, which is now blocked and covered in creeper. It has a tripartite casement window on the jettied first floor. The bay to the left has windows on each floor, with an advanced panel offset at the first floor and a gabled dormer head above the first floor window.

On the north elevation, there is a broad gabled bay to the right, which includes a canted window at ground level (1-2-1) topped with a stone half-pitched roof, and a small first floor window above it. To the left, there is a recessed single-storey bay with a window.

Additionally, there is a car-port that abuts the east elevation and connects with a rectangular-plan harled further addition. A ridge stack is present on the single-storey block at the rear.
