Description
Lawn Park Cottage, located at Newliston House, is a former lodge designed by William Adam in the early 18th century. This two-storey building has a rectangular plan and features three bays. It is constructed from rubble sandstone with squared and stugged dressings, and has painted margins with harl pointing.
On the southeast elevation, there is a broad door at the center, flanked by windows on the ground floor, all of which have relieving arches. The first-floor windows break the eaves and are set in piend-roofed slated dormerheads.
The east and west elevations have wallhead shouldered stacks, and there is a lean-to carport on the east elevation. The north elevation is three bays wide, with later windows inserted at ground level and regular windows on the first floor.
The cottage predominantly features plate glass sash and case windows, with a variety of modern timber windows elsewhere. The roof is covered in grey slate with lead flashings.
