Description
Chisholm House, located at 1 High School Yards in Edinburgh, is a former town house built in 1764. It is a three-storey building with an attic and basement, currently used as offices since 2007. The exterior features painted harl with ashlar margins and raised long and short quoins, while the rear is constructed of rubble. There is a band course above the basement, raised cills, and a cornice. The building has a later addition of a pair of bipartite dormers. The entrance door, located on the far left, is a four-pane timber door with a three-light fanlight above.
The windows are predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring coped gable stacks and raised skews.
Inside, as observed in 2007, the building has been converted into offices. It includes a D-plan open-well staircase with cast iron balusters and a timber handrail, while wooden balusters are present in the attic.
Additionally, there are spear-headed metal railings with an integral gate to the west of the property.
