Description
The former gateway to the Tweeddale House stables, located on Cowgate in Edinburgh, was designed by William Adam in 1736-1737. It features a round-arched ashlar carriage arch with rectangular pedestrian gateways on either side. This gateway once served the stables, which have since been demolished, and is now integrated into a random rubble coped screen wall built in 1977, along with some later stonework. The rear of the wall is dry-dashed to the north.
