9 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh

9 Holyrood Road is a five-storey, three-bay Scots Baronial tenement designed by Robert Macfarlane Cameron and dated 1895. It is located on a corner site and features a public house on the ground floor, along with a recessed four-storey, four-bay wing at the rear. The building is distinguished by prominent bartizan turrets topped with candle-snuffer roofs. It is constructed from snecked, rock-faced cream sandstone with red sandstone margins, and includes string courses and a corbelled course below the top storey. The top storey has ogival dormerheads for its openings, and there are two inset plaques, one at the top storey, both featuring monograms, with one also displaying a carved date.

The south elevation facing Holyrood Road has a six-panel timber close entrance door on the far left, topped by a tall fanlight. To the right, the public house is characterized by a timber fascia, decorative fluted timber pilasters, a pair of six-panel, two-leaf timber entrance doors, and multi-pane windows with timber stallrisers. The building predominantly features twelve-pane timber sash and case windows, grey slate roofing, coped gable and wallhead stacks, and cast iron rainwater goods.
