Description

1 Warrender Park Terrace is a five-storey tenement building in the Scottish 17th century style, dating from around 1880. It features a corner tower that links two terraces and is constructed from squared and snecked bull-faced sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. The building has a base course and a string course that forms hoodmouldings over the first-floor windows. Above the third floor, there is a cornice, and the fourth-floor windows break the eaves. The reveals of the windows display a variety of styles, including plain, roll-moulded, and stop-chamfered.

On the east elevation facing Marchmont Road, the building has a two-bay layout. The ground floor features a roll-moulded doorway with a hoodmoulding and a single window to the outer left. Above this, there are bipartite windows, a dormerhead for the fourth-floor window, a stone finial, and a circular patera inset. The remaining bay has single windows and a crowstepped dormerhead for the fourth-floor window. The corner tower is located to the outer right.

The north elevation facing Warrender Park Terrace has a three-bay arrangement. The central bay features a keystoned round-arched doorway flanked by colonettes with carved capitals, a deep-set panelled door, and a plate glass fanlight. To the left, there is a single window. Above, there are bipartite windows, a gabled fourth-floor window with a circular patera inset and stone finial, and advanced bipartite windows with dividing cornices in the outer right bay. The fourth floor also has a gabled tripartite window with a circular patera inset and stone finial, while the remaining bay has single windows and a fourth-floor window linked to the stack by a crowstepped dormerhead. The building has a round angle to the outer left, adjoining the neighbouring tenement.

The windows are plate glass sash and case, and the roof is covered with grey slate. The south gablehead stack has tapering coping, while the north features a corbelled and corniced wallhead stack, along with corniced mutual stacks. A low boundary wall runs along the street. The interiors were not seen in 1991.
